In a sharp escalation of political tensions ahead of the ADC elections, an alleged attack attempt was made on Tripura Minister Kishore Barman on Sunday morning in Nalchar Assembly constituency.

The incident took place in Rampada Para and Bibhuram Chowdhury Para. According to reports, the situation became tense after supporters of Tipra Motha allegedly vandalized BJP campaign materials a day earlier.

On Sunday morning, the minister visited the area to assess the damage and interact with local residents. After his departure, several tribal youths who had spoken with him were reportedly attacked, leaving at least eight BJP workers injured.

The situation further escalated after a BJP booth office in Bibhuram Chowdhury Para was allegedly set on fire by unidentified miscreants.

Sources also stated that a few days earlier, during an ADC campaign visit to Bhriguram Para, there had been an attempt to attack the minister, forcing him to leave without addressing a gathering.

Minister Kishore Barman alleged that on Sunday morning in Rampada Para ADC Village, specifically in Bhriguram Chowdhury Para, goons of Tipra Motha launched a sudden attack on BJP workers. He claimed that the Mandal President of the ST Morcha, Lalbahadur Tripura, along with several other party workers, was assaulted in the incident.

According to the minister, Lalbahadur Tripura is currently undergoing treatment at GB Pant Hospital in Agartala.

The minister strongly stated that through terror and intimidation, the Bharatiya Janata Party cannot be stopped and will not be stopped, asserting that such incidents would not deter the party’s campaign.

He further alleged that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is acting in coordination with Tipra Motha to create disturbances in the region.

Meanwhile, supporters of Tipra Motha have rejected the allegations and presented a different narrative. They claimed that Minister Kishore Barman had not visited the area even once after winning the elections.

According to them, public dissatisfaction had been building due to the minister’s absence. When he arrived on Sunday, local residents reportedly protested and chased him away.

Residents stated that elected representatives who fail to remain connected with the people after elections should expect such reactions, calling it a consequence of neglect.

The situation in Nalchar remains tense, with heightened political confrontation and security concerns in the run-up to the ADC elections.
