Gunman Arrested from Guwahati, Main Accused Ranabir Debnath Still at Large in Bishalgarh Shooting Case

In a significant breakthrough, Bishalgarh police have arrested one accused from Guwahati in connection with a recent shooting incident, although the prime accused, identified as Ranbir Debnath, is still absconding.

According to police sources, the arrested individual, Nayan Deb, was apprehended from a hotel in Guwahati during a coordinated operation. He was later brought to Agartala by flight under tight security and produced before the Bishalgarh police station.

The case relates to a firing incident that took place in the Netajinagar area of Bishalgarh, where a group allegedly led by Ranbir Debnath opened fire at the residence of one contractor namely Anup Saha. While Debnath remains on the run, police managed to arrest his close associate from Guwahati within a few days of the incident.

Earlier, on March 19, the accused group reportedly demanded Rs.50 lakh from Anup Saha and carried out the attack when the demand was not met.

Police have intensified operations across regions to track down the remaining suspects and ensure strict legal action.
