Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said voters are prepared to establish a “third engine” of governance in the TTAADC, aiming to expand the existing “double engine” government.

Addressing an election rally at Gandacherra in Dhalai district in support of party candidates, Saha said the state and the country were progressing under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and similar governance was needed in the ADC.

He said people were seeking development and stability, adding that the party remained committed to delivering welfare measures across sections. According to party sources, around 710 voters joined the Bharatiya Janata Party during the programme.

Alleging misgovernance in the council, Saha said there was dissatisfaction among voters and a demand for an alternative ensuring transparency and development. He claimed that the electorate was inclined to support BJP candidates across all 28 seats to establish a “triple engine” government at the Centre, state and council levels.

Without naming any party, he accused a regional political outfit of disruptive political practices and referred to alleged incidents of intimidation and violence, stating that such methods would not be accepted by the people.

He also highlighted welfare initiatives undertaken by the state government for the upliftment of tribal communities.
