BSF rescues 22 after vehicle falls into gorge in Dhalai

Personnel of the Border Security Force rescued 22 passengers after a vehicle skidded off a slippery road and fell into a gorge in Dhalai district, officials said on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 0930 hours when a jeep travelling from Jalabasti to Chawmanu lost control and plunged nearly 50 feet off the roadside in the area under Border Outpost Jalabasti of 33 Battalion BSF, under Sector Panisagar.
On receiving information, BSF personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. All passengers were safely extricated from the vehicle, officials said.
Eleven injured persons, including five women and six men, were evacuated and taken to Chawmanu Hospital around 1015 hours for treatment.
No fatalities were reported. Officials said BSF personnel responded promptly and coordinated the evacuation to ensure timely medical assistance.
