With the campaign for April 12 ADC polls intensifying , the parties have also started attacking each other with deepening bitterness . The chief minister Dr Manik Saha who has been spearheading the BJP’s campaign for the polls launched a blistering assault on the rival ‘Tipra Motha’ in a poll rally at Gabordi area under Jampui Jala subdivision today , targeting the ‘Tipra Motha’ chief Pradyot Kishore. Yesterday also the chief minister addressed poll rallies in Chelagang in Amarpur subdivision, Shilacherri and Ludhua tea garden area in Sabroom subdivision .

In all the meetings including the one at Gabordi today Dr Saha accused the ‘Tipra Motha’ of trying to ethnically polarise the state as well as to provoke a riot like situation citing false grounds and by peddling blatant falsehoods. “One leader is selling the dream of ‘Greater Tipraland’ encompassing the Chittagong hill-tracts of Bangladesh including the Cox Bazar port; apart from the sheer absurdity of the slogan merely to mislead the simple-minded tribals , those peddling such dreams do not known that with their slogans they are violating the Section (2) of Article 19 of the constitution which restricts speeches and statements that may spoil relations with friendly countries ; even now there is time for them to be guarded in their utterances” said the chief minister without taking any name.

He then turned to the ‘bogey’ of infiltration from Bangladesh, asserting that the state government is performing its assigned duties in this regard and so far infiltration has not proved to be a problem. “The matter will be proved in the report that will be submitted by the government to the high court that has asked for this ; but making this an issue is mischievous and designed to deepen the ethnic polarisation in the state for narrow political purposes” said the chief minister. He also strongly condemned the violent attacks on BJP workers and supporters in various constituencies under ADC by the ‘Tipra Motha’ and referred to the attacks on the sitting BJP MLA Manoj Kanti Deb and members of security forces on Thursday and said that such attacks and attempts to subvert the election process will not be tolerated and all attempts will be made to ensure a free and fair polls.

Meanwhile, the ‘Tipra Motha’ chief Pradyot Kishore has kept up his snide remarks and tirade against the BJP and even the chief minister. “Our agreement and understanding was with the central home ministry and home minister Amit Shah and not with Dr Manik Saha; we will take up all issues with the central level and if necessary we will call an end to the coalition or alliance “ said Pradyot in a podcast on his ‘Facebook’ handle.
