Fit India Cycling Drive Gains Momentum: 66th ‘Sundays on Cycle’ Held in Agartala

Reinforcing the nationwide push towards a healthier and more active lifestyle, the 66th edition of Sundays on Cycle was successfully organized yesterday in Agartala as part of the ongoing Fit India Movement, originally launched by Narendra Modi on August 29, 2019. The Fit India Movement aims to promote behavioral change and encourage citizens to integrate fitness into their daily routines. Building on this vision, the Fit India Cycling Drive, launched under the Khelo India initiative on December 17, 2024, in New Delhi has rapidly evolved into a nationwide phenomenon. The campaign, branded as Sundays on Cycle, is now conducted across nearly 2.8 lakh locations, engaging over 28 lakh cycling enthusiasts across the country.In Tripura, the event was organized by the Sports Authority of India, Agartala, in collaboration with the Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI), Bharat Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), and private security agencies of the state.

The cycling rally commenced at 9:00 AM from the iconic Ujjayanta Palace and covered a distance of approximately 2 kilometers along a well-planned route. Around 50 participants actively took part in the event. However, nearly 20–25 security personnel could not join due to the unavailability of bicycles.Participation and Coordination Representatives from the Sports Authority of India, private security guards, and members of Bharat Mazdoor Sangh were present during the event. Mr. Binod Prasad, Assistant Gymnastics Coach from Tripura, highlighted logistical challenges, particularly in arranging sufficient bicycles for participants. The event was efficiently coordinated by CAPSI Tripura State Chapter leaders, including President Nilkanat Sinha of Visual Security, Agartala, and Secretary Niraj Kumar Jha of RNJ Associates.Looking AheadDespite minor logistical hurdles, the program witnessed strong coordination among stakeholders and enthusiastic participation. The organizers concluded the event with a renewed commitment to host more such initiatives in Tripura, aiming to increase participation and further strengthen the culture of fitness and active living across the state.
