Allegations Rock Tipra Motha: MLA Swapna Debbarma Accused of Secret BJP Links, Faces Protest in Mandai

In a significant political development in Tripura, serious allegations have emerged against Swapna Debbarma, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Tipra Motha Party. She has been accused of maintaining covert communication with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and allegedly conspiring to defeat her own party’s candidates in the upcoming ADC elections.

According to these allegations, a section of Tipra Motha supporters staged a protest against Swapna Debbarma yesterday when she visited Mandai. Protesters reportedly surrounded her and raised slogans demanding that she go back, reflecting growing discontent within the party’s grassroots base.

When contacted for the party’s official stance, Ranjit Debbarma, another MLA of Tipra Motha, acknowledged that he had also heard similar claims. He stated that the party would conduct an internal inquiry into the matter to verify the allegations.

Ranjit Debbarma further made a strong statement, alleging that certain individuals within the party, including MLAs, one minister, MDCs, and members of the ADC executive committee

have secretly aligned with the BJP and are actively involved in conspiratorial activities against Tipra Motha. He warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty of anti-party activities.

Swapna Debbarma, an elected representative from the Mandaibazar Assembly constituency, won her seat in the 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly elections and is currently serving as a member of the 13th Tripura Assembly.

The controversy has intensified internal tensions within Tipra Motha and may have significant implications for the party’s performance in the ADC elections, as well as its overall political cohesion in the state.
