A major political controversy has erupted in Tripura after two legislators of Tipra Motha Party, Animesh Debbarma and Chittaranjan Debbarma
were reportedly seen attending an organisational meeting with a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate at the Ambassa Circuit House. The incident, which surfaced on social media and quickly went viral, has triggered sharp reactions within the party.
Senior Tipra Motha leader and MLA Ranjit Debbarma has publicly expressed strong dissatisfaction over the development. He confirmed that both MLAs were present in not one, but two separate meetings held in Ambassa and Khowai involving BJP candidates, raising serious questions about their political stance and loyalty.
Ranjit Debbarma alleged that Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma has been largely inactive in Tipra Motha’s election campaign and instead has been secretly campaigning for BJP candidates, including David Debbarma in Khowai district, particularly during late hours. Similar allegations were also levelled against Chittaranjan Debbarma, accusing him of actively supporting BJP’s electoral efforts.
The controversy deepened as Ranjit Debbarma highlighted that the meetings took place at the Governmen
Circuit house at Ambassa, making the issue even more sensitive. He described the presence of the two MLAs in such meetings as a matter of serious concern for the party.
Following the revelations, political circles across the state are abuzz with speculation that Animesh Debbarma and Chittaranjan Debbarma may be aligning with the BJP and attempting to undermine Tipra Motha’s candidates in the ongoing ADC elections.
According to party sources, the Tipra Motha leadership is taking the matter seriously and may soon initiate disciplinary action against the two MLAs for alleged anti-party activities.
The incident has added a new dimension to Tripura’s political landscape, intensifying internal tensions within Tipra Motha at a crucial time ahead of elections.
