In a significant political development ahead of the ADC elections in Tripura, internal differences within the BJP have increasingly come into the open, not only within its ally Tipra Motha but also among the party’s own top leadership.

Sources indicate that a section of BJP’s senior leadership made strong efforts to forge a seat-sharing arrangement with Tipra Motha for the ADC polls. However, another influential group within the party, led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, was firmly in favor of contesting the elections independently from the very beginning.

Despite last-minute discussions, the absence of consensus at the central level ultimately resulted in no alliance being formed between BJP and Tipra Motha for the ADC elections. The decision has exposed underlying factional divisions within the party.

The impact of this internal tussle is now visible on the ground. Several prominent first-line BJP leaders have remained largely absent from ADC election activities. Reports suggest that some leaders were not even actively called upon to participate in campaign efforts, further highlighting the depth of internal discord.

A notable example is Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, who is currently outside the state during this crucial political period. His absence has drawn attention within political circles.

On Tuesday, Ramprasad Pal attended a spiritually significant event at the Jeevan Deep Ashram in Vrindavan and Mathura, where a newly constructed saints’ ashram was inaugurated. The ceremony was organized by revered spiritual leader Atandra Nandgiri Maharaj.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent religious figures, including Shankaracharyas, Mandaleshwars, and Mahamandaleshwars from across the country, making it a spiritually enriching gathering.

Among the distinguished attendees was Mohan Bhagwat, the Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. Chief Ministers from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, along with several ministers and senior RSS functionaries, were also present.

Notably, Ramprasad Pal was the only invited representative from Tripura to attend this high-profile spiritual congregation, following a personal invitation from the Maharaj.

The simultaneous unfolding of political discord within the BJP and the absence of key leaders during the ADC election campaign have added a new dimension to the evolving political landscape in Tripura.
