Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Asish Kumar Saha has written a detailed letter to the Chief Minister of Tripura, raising serious concerns over what he described as a worsening law and order situation in the state.

In his letter dated March 24, 2026, Saha alleged that since the change of government in 2018, incidents of political violence, intimidation, and attacks on opposition workers have increased significantly. He claimed that opposition leaders and workers are facing systematic harassment, threats, and physical assaults, which are affecting democratic functioning in the state.

The TPCC President also highlighted alleged attacks on journalists and independent voices, stating that press freedom is under pressure. He further pointed out that incidents of extortion, land grabbing, and intimidation of small traders and ordinary citizens have become more frequent.

Saha referred to a recent incident in Bishalgarh, describing it as an example of growing criminal activities and political patronage. According to him, such incidents indicate a nexus between criminal elements and sections of the ruling establishment, leading to fear among the general public.

He also raised concerns about the functioning of the police administration, alleging that law enforcement agencies are not acting impartially and, in some cases, are failing to provide adequate protection to victims. He emphasized that this has weakened public confidence in the system.

In the letter, Saha urged the Chief Minister to take immediate and effective steps to restore law and order, ensure the safety of citizens, and uphold democratic values. He also called for strict action against those involved in criminal and anti-social activities, irrespective of political affiliation.

The letter has reportedly been received at the Chief Minister’s office, as indicated by an official stamp.

The communication from the TPCC President is expected to intensify political debate in the state, with the opposition pressing for accountability and the government likely to respond to the allegations.
