Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has expressed surprise over the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) announcing candidates for the upcoming TTAADC elections without prior consultation with alliance partners.
Speaking to a group of journalists at the party headquarters on yesterday night, Dr. Saha said that both TIPRA Motha and IPFT continue to remain alliance partners of the BJP. However, he pointed out that recent developments have created unexpected political complications ahead of the elections.
“It’s quite a bit of surprise why IPFT announced candidates names for the upcoming TTAADC election without consulting us,” the Chief Minister remarked.
He further explained that discussions with TIPRA Motha regarding seat-sharing could not reach a conclusion, as the party was seeking a larger share of seats in the TTAADC polls. “TIPRA Motha wants the maximum number of seats, so seat adjustment was not possible with them,” he stated.
Highlighting concerns over coordination within the alliance, Dr. Saha noted that IPFT had gone ahead and declared its list of candidates for nine seats independently. “Why they did it, our leaders are talking to them,” he added, indicating that efforts are underway to address the issue through dialogue.
The development has introduced a fresh layer of uncertainty in the alliance dynamics ahead of the TTAADC elections, with political observers closely watching how seat-sharing negotiations and coordination among the partners evolve in the coming days.
