Springing a surprise on the state’s political arena the ‘Tipra Motha’ chief Pradyot Kishore took to his social media handle to announce that there will be no electoral alliance with any party for the upcoming election to the Autonomous District Council (ADC). Coming live on his ‘Facebook’ ID Pradyot proclaimed that his ‘alliance is with the ‘Tiprasa’ people of the state and he will stick to this. “A stage has now come when I am announcing that there will be no alliance with any party or group unless we receive a written assurance on quick implementation of the tripartite ‘Tiprasa’ accord signed in the year 2024” said Pradyot.

He also reasserted his standing as ‘Bubagra’ and said that he will never mislead or deceive his own people . Pradyot also strayed into a verbal excursion into northeastern region and said that the indigenous people at large can work wonders once they come to a single platform regardless of numbers . What he precisely meant by this is not clear but his political signalling seemed quite sinister, albeit hollow in content , considering the great divergence in ethnic identity, language and culture. But he made the assertion and asked his targeted audience to keep calm and not indulge in any violence but to wait for giving a befitting reply to all on April 12 and 17-that is on polling and counting day for all the insults and humiliations heaped on his party.

Pradyot’s announcement today has given a new twist to the pre-election alliance politics in the state as it was widely speculated on credible grounds that , for all their differences, the BJP and ‘Tipra Motha’ will fight the ADC polls in alliance. Sources in BJP , unhappy with the flop-flops on the issue of alliance , said that elements from within the party have been trying to score factional brownie points by creating complications on the issue . “Their main purpose is to put the chief minister Dr Manik Saha in trouble to pave the way for their return to political limelight, riding piggy-back on Pradyot and Pradyot also seems to have swallowed the bait” sources said.
