Gunfire, Extortion Allegations Rock Bishalgarh: BJP Leader’s House Targeted Twice Amid RS.50 Lakh Demand

A shocking incident of alleged extortion and repeated firing has triggered panic in the Netajinagar area under Bishalgarh, raising serious concerns over law and order and alleged political patronage of criminal elements.

According to reports, unidentified assailants allegedly linked to Ranbir Debnath, described locally as a close associate of the Bishalgarh BJP leadership carried out two separate firing incidents at the residence of former booth-level leader and BJP district member Anup Kumar Saha.

The incidents reportedly stem from an alleged demand of Rs.50 lakh as commission related to the opening of a paper block factory.

Sources claim that on Friday afternoon, associates of Ranbir Debnath visited Anup Saha’s residence and, during a video call involving Saha’s wife, allegedly issued a demand for Rs.50 lakh.

The threat was reportedly explicit, If the money was not paid by evening, Saha would be shot before sunrise the next day.

Two Rounds of Firing in 24 Hours

Following the alleged threat:

Friday evening: Armed men reportedly opened fire (two rounds) at Saha’s residence shortly after communication with Ranbir Debnath.

Saturday early morning: The attackers allegedly returned and fired two more rounds, escalating fear among residents.

The back-to-back incidents created widespread panic across the Netajinagar locality, with locals expressing fear over their safety.
