Journalist Nandan Chakraborty dies by Scooty accident in Santir Bazar area, Agartala Press Club pays homage

In a heart-breaking incident a young journalist of Agartala this morning died on the spot after his Scooty had met with an accident at Rajapur area under Santir Bazar police station in Belonia subdivision. His profusely bleeding body as well as his damaged Scooty were brought to Santir Bazar hospital where he was declared ‘dead on arrival’. His accidental death has cast a deep shadow of grief and mourning among media circles at Agartala.
Police sources said that Nandan Chakraborty (34), a resident of Ram Nagar area of Agartala and a working journalist in a leading local daily, had been heading for Sabroom on his Scooty No-01AK-8236 but was lying in a pool of blood at Rajapur beside the national highway under Santir Bazar police station. Around 5-00 AM some people who had seen Nandan Chakraborty lying beside the road had phoned the Fire Brigade authority to inform of what they had seen. His damaged Scooty was also lying damaged beside him .
After receiving information the Fire Brigade authority from Santir Bazar rushed to the spot and shifted Nandan Chakraborty to the subdivisional hospital where he was pronounced ‘brought dead’. The police personnel from Santir Bazar police station recovered his Scooty and brought it to the police station. Later the mortal remains of Nandan Chakraborty were handed over to his family members and local journalists of Santir Bazar after post-mortem. He is survived by his wife, old mother, wife and lone child.
After arrival at Agartala journalist Nandan Chakraborty’s body was taken to Agartala Press Club where the president of the Club Pranab Sarkar, secretary Roma Kanta Dey , treasurer Ranjan Roy and other senior members of the press club and media community paid their homage to deceased journalist Nandan Chakraborty. He was later cremated in Battala crematorium. The death of journalist Nandan Chakraborty in an accident has cast a deep shadow of grief and mourning over the media community at Agartala.
