109 Anti-Social Elements and Land-Mafia Operatives Identified in Tripura: CM Assures Strict Vigilance

In a significant disclosure in the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha informed that a total of 109 anti-social elements and land- mafia operatives are currently listed in police records across the state.

The information was shared in a written reply to a set of queries jointly submitted by five MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury, along with Nirmal Biswas, Ranjit Debbarma, Sudip Sarkar, and Nayan Sarkar.

According to the government’s response, Tripura Police maintain a detailed and updated record of individuals identified as anti-social elements or mafia operatives involved in unlawful activities. These records are preserved at every police station to ensure effective monitoring and quick action when necessary. Addressing concerns over mafia activities in land transactions and house construction, the government asserted that law enforcement agencies remain on high alert. It stated that any attempt to disturb public order or threaten peace in matters related to land purchase, sale, or construction is dealt with promptly under relevant legal provisions.The reply further emphasized that strict legal action is initiated whenever violations are detected. Criminal cases are registered, and due process is followed to ensure accountability and deterrence.Providing an update on enforcement actions, the government informed the Assembly that three individuals have been arrested so far in connection with such activities, while 13 accused persons are currently lodged in jail.

Officials reiterated that police and other law enforcement agencies continue to closely monitor suspected activities. Necessary legal measures are being taken regularly to curb the influence of organised groups, particularly in sensitive sectors like property transactions and construction.The government’s statement highlights its commitment to maintaining law and order while intensifying efforts to dismantle anti-social networks operating in the state.
