According to the budget documents, the state’s total receipts are estimated at Rs.33,971.59 crore, while total expenditure is projected at Rs.34,212.31 crore, resulting in the deficit.
The budget figures indicate that revenue receipts are estimated at Rs.26,881.99 crore, while revenue expenditure is projected at Rs.25,266.39 crore, leaving a revenue surplus of Rs.1,615.60 crore.
Under the capital account, the state expects receipts of Rs.7,089.60 crore from loans and other sources, including the public account and opening balance. Capital expenditure is estimated at Rs.8,945.92 crore, leading to a capital deficit of Rs.1,856.32 crore.
A comparison with earlier years shows the steady expansion of Tripura’s budget size. In 2018, the state budget was around Rs.15,000 crore, whereas the current budget has risen to Rs.34,212 crore, indicating significant growth in public spending over the past several years.
The government has highlighted that the increased allocation will support infrastructure development, social welfare programmes, digital governance initiatives and public service delivery across the state.
Officials said that the budget also reflects the state’s continued effort to balance developmental spending while maintaining fiscal discipline, even as it projects a moderate deficit of about Rs.240 crore for the upcoming financial year.
