Former Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC), Radha Charan Debbarma, has made explosive allegations against the present Tipra Motha-led ADC administration, accusing it of handing over several movable and immovable properties of the Council to private companies on long-term agreements.Addressing the issue ahead of the upcoming ADC elections, Debbarma claimed that the current administration is more focused on transferring valuable ADC assets to private entities than on ensuring development in the hill areas and rural regions. The allegations come at a time when the Left Front has already intensified its political campaign for the ADC polls. Apart from announcing its list of candidates first, the opposition has also started highlighting alleged irregularities and administrative failures of the current ADC leadership.Debbarma alleged that several important properties developed during the earlier Left Front regime have been handed over to private companies for periods ranging from 20 to 30 years. According to him, tourist lodges under the ADC have been handed over to the various private Groups, while log huts have reportedly been transferred to the Jindal Group. He further claimed that a cinema hall built during the Left Front government’s tenure has been given to the SR Group, and the Dumboor water body has been handed over to a private company from Visakhapatnam. The former CEM alleged that these decisions were taken with the approval of the top leadership of Tipra Motha, which currently runs the ADC administration.Raising questions over financial priorities, Debbarma said that while the ADC administration is unable to pay pensioners their dues and pending benefits on time, its leaders are reportedly travelling abroad. He also alleged widespread mismanagement and corruption within the Council.

According to him, development activities in the hill areas have slowed significantly. Several road construction works have stopped, and some running schools are reportedly being shut down.Debbarma also alleged that leaders of Tipra Motha and its ally BJP are not concerned about the problems of people in the ADC areas and are instead busy with political power struggles. The remarks have further intensified the political debate ahead of the upcoming ADC elections, with opposition parties attempting to highlight governance issues in the Council areas.
