Jishnu Dev Varma Takes Oath as Governor of Maharashtra

Newly appointed Governor of Maharashtra Jishnu Dev Varma took the oath of office today. The oath was administered by Chandrashekhar, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, at a ceremony held in the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan.

Following the oath ceremony, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar congratulated Governor Jishnu Dev Varma by presenting him with bouquets. With this, Jishnu Dev Varma has become the 22nd Governor of Maharashtra.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agarwal read out the official notification issued by the President of India Droupadi Murmu regarding the appointment of Jishnu Dev Varma as the Governor.

The ceremony began with the National Anthem and the State Song, while it concluded with the National Anthem. After the oath-taking ceremony, the Governor was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour by the Indian Navy.

Among those present at the ceremony were Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde, Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Legislative Council Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe, former Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Food and Drugs Administration Minister Narahari Zirwal, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Bhushan Gagrani, Director General of Police Sadanand Date, Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, Chief State Protocol Officer Rajesh Gavande, and other senior officials.
