The reputed Flipkart , an e-commerce platform operating now as subsidiary of the US retail giant Walmart, is now in the eye of a storm in Tripura. The manager of the Flipkart branch in Bishalgarh subdivision is reportedly involved in smuggling various commodities including possibly contraband materials through delivery packets to Bangladesh.

This came to light today as 40 delivery boys attacked to the Bishalgarh subdivisional office of the company accused the manager of the company’s office there of smuggling materials to Bangladesh through delivery packets. This accusation was made by the delivery boys to police in Bishalgarh today.

Sources from Bishalgarh said that the 40 delivery boys had been receiving Rs 22.00 per delivery in addition to their salary but recently the manager brought down the payment per delivery to Rs 11.00 spooking them greatly and causing financial loss for the job which is often very risky also. The boys had initially protested the reduction in payment quite gently pointing out t heir loss but the manager treated them rudely , threatening them with summary dismissal. Finally this morning they approached the police and informed them that they have to deliver a large number of packets daily to people living very close to or just on the edge of the border with Bangladesh and most of these people are poor Muslims having dual citizenship. They said that they are unaware of the contents of the pockets but have developed suspicion of foul play in the matter. The police have registered a case and launched investigation.
