A major controversy has emerged in Unakoti district after a woman filed a rape complaint against Unakoti district president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Arup Dhar, at the Kailashahar Women Police Station. The complainant, identified as Pradipta Pal, alleged that the police showed reluctance in formally acknowledging the complaint and refused to provide a received copy of the complaint with an official seal.

According to sources, Pradipta Pal, the wife of Shivam Basfor, lodged the complaint accusing Arup Dhar of rape. The case follows an incident that reportedly took place on March 2, when Shivam Basfor allegedly caught Arup Dhar with his wife. Following the confrontation, it is alleged that Arup Dhar assaulted Shivam.

The incident quickly spread on social media and went viral, drawing widespread attention. After the video and details of the incident circulated online, Pradipta was reportedly asked to leave the rented house in Kumarghat where she had been staying.

Sources claim that the rented house in Kumarghat had earlier been arranged by Arup Dhar for Pradipta due to their alleged relationship, and it is also alleged that Dhar occasionally stayed there overnight. However, after the incident of March 2 became widely discussed on social media, Dhar reportedly cut off all contact with Pradipta.

Feeling aggrieved after the alleged breakdown of the relationship and the events that followed, Pradipta Pal approached the Kailashahar Women Police Station and filed a complaint accusing Arup Dhar of rape.

However, the complainant has alleged that the police are hesitant to formally register the case because Arup Dhar holds the position of district president of the BJYM. Although the complaint has reportedly been submitted at the police station, the complainant claims that the police have refused to provide an officially stamped receiving copy of the complaint.

The matter has triggered significant public discussion in the area, with demands for a fair and transparent investigation into the allegations.

Police officials have not yet issued any official statement regarding the complaint or the allegations made by the complainant.
