Tension prevailed at the eKart (Flipkart delivery) hub in Bishalgarh’s Jangalia area on Tuesday after around 40 to 45 delivery personnel staged a protest and shut down the office by pulling down its shutters. The agitating delivery boys alleged that large quantities of goods from the hub were being illegally diverted to Bangladesh.
According to the protesting workers, the alleged activities are being carried out under the supervision of hub manager Bimal Lodh, area manager Bapi Chakraborty and another official, Dipankar Debnath. The delivery workers claimed that after a significant volume of products arrives at the hub, a portion of the goods is allegedly siphoned off and sent across the border through the office located at the roadside in Bishalgarh.
The delivery boys further complained that their monthly parcel delivery commission has been steadily decreasing. They alleged that while their earnings are being reduced, large quantities of goods are being misappropriated from the hub.
Angered by the situation, the delivery staff gathered at the office on Tuesday and locked the shutters, suspending all operations. They demanded an immediate increase in their delivery commission and a proper investigation into the alleged diversion of goods.
The protesters warned that the office will remain closed and delivery operations will continue to be halted if their demands are not addressed.
Police from Bishalgarh Police Station reached the spot after receiving information about the protest and are monitoring the situation. Further details are awaited as authorities look into the allegations raised by the delivery workers.
