Even before the formal announcement of the election schedule, the Left Front on Friday declared its list of candidates for all 28 seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). Along with the ADC candidates, the Left Front also announced its nominee for the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election.

The announcement was made in the presence of CPI(M) State Secretary Jitendra Chaudhury. The Left Front has nominated Amitabha Datta, a member of the CPI(M) State Secretariat, as its candidate for the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency by-poll.

According to the list released by the Left Front, most of the candidates have been fielded by CPI(M), while some seats have been allotted to alliance partners including All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), and CPI.

Several new faces have been introduced in the list, indicating a mix of experienced and young candidates for the upcoming ADC election.

Among the candidates announced by the Left Front are Barendra Reang from Damcherra-Jampui, Ramakanta Nath from Kanchanpur, Sadhan Chakma from Karamcherra, Khusiram Tripura from Chawmanu, Rahul Das from Manu, Sumati Ranjan Chakma from Raimavally, Dhanchamani Reang from Gandacherra-Ganganagar, Karim Debbarma from Asharambari-Halahali, Atul Debbarma from Kulai-Champlahaur, Ratan Kishore Jamatia from Teliamura-Maharani, Samaresh Debbarma from Ramchandraghat, Surya Debbarma from Mandai-Pulinpur, and Radhacharan Debbarma from Jirania.

The Machmara seat has been allotted to AIFB, and the name of the candidate will be announced later.

With this early declaration of candidates, the Left Front has effectively kick-started its campaign for the upcoming ADC elections, even before the official poll schedule is announced. Political observers believe the move is aimed at giving candidates more time to reach voters across the ADC areas.

The announcement also signals the Left Front’s strategy to strengthen its organizational base in tribal areas and mount a strong challenge in the upcoming council polls.
