In a significant move to promote rural employment and entrepreneurship, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) under the state’s Rural Development Department has started a series of skill development training programmes through the Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) network across different districts of Tripura.

The initiative aims to provide skill training and self-employment opportunities particularly for youths from rural areas, including members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and families living below the poverty line.

According to the official information issued by TRLM, the training programmes will be conducted through RSETIs functioning in various districts of the state. These institutes will offer modern skill-based training aligned with the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). The programme primarily targets rural youths in the age group of 18 to 50 years.

Officials said the training initiative has been launched with a special focus on strengthening rural livelihoods by enabling youths to acquire practical skills and start their own income-generating activities.

The training modules cover a wide range of sectors including agriculture-based activities, manufacturing and service-sector skills.

Under the agriculture and allied sector, trainees will receive instruction in areas such as poultry farming, apiculture (bee-keeping), horticulture and sericulture.

In the manufacturing category, courses include dress designing, tailoring, handicrafts and other small-scale production activities aimed at creating self-employment opportunities.

The service sector training programmes will include courses such as mobile repairing, electrical works, computer-related skills, hospitality services and other job-oriented skills relevant to the current market demand.

In addition, special Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP) and skill development courses for women will also be organized to encourage entrepreneurship among rural women.

Officials also stated that after completing the training, participants will receive support in accessing bank credit to help them establish their own enterprises or self-employment ventures.

The RSETI centres conducting the training programmes are located across the state, including Agartala in West Tripura district, Udaipur in Gomati district, Bishramganj in Sepahijala district, Ambassa in Dhalai district, Kumarghat in Unakoti district, Dharmanagar in North Tripura district, Belonia in South Tripura district and Khowai district.

Authorities have appealed to the public, local leaders and organizations to widely share the information so that the programme can reach the maximum number of rural youths who are seeking skill development and employment opportunities.

The initiative is expected to strengthen livelihood opportunities in rural Tripura by equipping young people with practical skills, entrepreneurship training and access to institutional credit.
