Marking eight years of the BJP-led government in Tripura, the state BJP organized a press conference on Sunday at the party’s state office, Kushabhau Bhavan. BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee and media in-charge Sunit Sarkar were present at the press conference.

Addressing the media, Nabendu Bhattacharjee said that eight years have been completed since the BJP formed its first government in Tripura and during this period the state has witnessed qualitative changes. He claimed that the impact of the government’s work is visible across the state. The government has been working tirelessly to ensure that the benefits of development reach common people in line with the principle of Antyodaya.

He said that despite the burden of debts left by the previous Left Front government, the BJP government has managed to maintain fiscal discipline in the state. Through the implementation of various developmental projects, including infrastructure development, the overall progress of the state has been ensured. Transparency in administration has improved and the e-governance system has been extended up to the panchayat level.

He also claimed that significant improvements have taken place in the health sector. Trauma centers have been set up and various health services have been expanded. The government has also taken initiatives in the areas of the public distribution system, agriculture, education and procurement of paddy at minimum support price.

Nabendu Bhattacharjee further said that positive changes have taken place in the state during the BJP government’s tenure and citizens can now express their opinions freely. The Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport has been modernized and steps have been taken for the construction of the Jackson Gate. Overall development of the state is being pursued with modern thinking and planning.

He also mentioned that the BJP’s vision document had promised the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission and the government has fulfilled that commitment. The fitment factor has been fixed at 2.57 and efforts are being made to gradually reduce the gap between DA and DR for government employees.

Responding to CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury’s remarks regarding chit fund issues, Nabendu Bhattacharjee said that former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar had praised the Rose Valley company and attended its events. He questioned why people were not advised at that time to invest in government savings schemes. According to the BJP, the Left Front government had close relations with the Rose Valley group, and people have not forgotten this issue.
