Tripura is set to witness another moment of pride as a young mountaineer from the state, Prananta Deb, prepares for a historic expedition to climb Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. What makes his mission even more remarkable is that he plans to attempt the climb without the use of supplemental oxygen, a feat considered extremely challenging even for experienced climbers.
According to official information from the expedition organizers, Prananta Deb will undertake the Everest expedition from April 1 to May 31, 2026, a 69-day expedition that will involve acclimatization, technical climbing, and the final summit push. The expedition will be organized by Peak Fifteen Adventure Pvt. Ltd. of Kathmandu, Nepal, which will provide full logistical support, including permits from the Government of Nepal and assistance from an experienced Sherpa guide during both the ascent and descent.
Prananta Deb has already demonstrated his mountaineering capabilities by successfully summiting several challenging peaks in the Himalayas, including Stok Kangri, Friendship Peak, Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, Bhagirathi I & II, and Mt. Indrasan. These achievements helped him qualify for the mandatory climbing permits required for attempting Everest.
Ahead of the expedition, Prananta Deb met Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul at the Assembly Secretariat in Agartala. During the meeting, Ramprasad Paul extended his warm wishes for the success of the expedition and expressed pride in the young climber’s determination.
Significantly, Ramprasad Paul is personally bearing a substantial portion of the expenses for the upcoming Everest expedition, supporting the young mountaineer’s dream.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramprasad Paul said that embarking on an expedition to climb Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, is an act of extraordinary courage and determination that serves as an inspiration to all.
He added that he feels fortunate to extend some personal support to this noble mission and that standing beside a young adventurer in the pursuit of his dream is a matter of great pride. He prayed for Prananta Deb’s safety and success in the challenging journey so that he may return victorious and bring glory to Tripura and the entire nation.
Prananta Deb expressed gratitude for the encouragement and support he has received and said that such backing strengthens his resolve to complete the expedition successfully.
If successful, Prananta Deb will not only achieve a personal milestone but will also add another glorious chapter to Tripura’s growing legacy in adventure sports and mountaineering.
