Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only political party that “never lies,” while accusing leaders of the Tipra Motha Party of misleading people regarding the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Village Council (VC) elections in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC).

Addressing a large joining programme organized by the 30 Bagma Mandal of the Bharatiya Janata Party at Atharobola in Gomati district, the Chief Minister said that BJP also wants the ADC Village Council elections to be held as soon as possible. However, he explained that conducting the VC elections simultaneously with the ADC polls involves certain technical issues.

According to the Chief Minister, the Supreme Court of India has asked the concerned authorities to submit an affidavit clarifying when the elections can be held. “Despite this, a section of Tipra Motha leaders has started claiming victory and spreading the narrative that they have already won the case,” he said, alleging that such statements are meant to confuse the public.

Dr. Saha further alleged that Tipra Motha is pursuing a politics of unrest in Tripura. “They want to create instability in the state, but such attempts will not benefit them,” he said. He expressed confidence that BJP candidates would emerge victorious in the upcoming ADC elections.

Criticizing the previous management of the ADC, the Chief Minister said the functioning of the council in the past gave the impression that it was treated like a “revenue extraction area,” where the main objective was to occupy land and exploit resources. “This mentality has led to a chaotic situation in the ADC,” he remarked.

Dr. Saha said that the tribal communities of Tripura are now determined to free the ADC from what he described as mismanagement and are ready to entrust its responsibility to the BJP.

Referring to the large turnout at the joining programme in Atharobola, the Chief Minister said the strong presence of tribal people reflected growing support for the BJP. “Seeing the overwhelming participation of tribal brothers and sisters here today, I am confident that the opposition has already started feeling the tremors,” he added.
