MMDC College, Sabroom Celebrates World Wildlife Day

The Michael Madhusudhan Dutta (MMDC) College, Sabroom celebrated the World Wildlife Day today with great enthusiasm among students and teachers. The event commenced at 11:30 AM in the college’s smart classroom. Mr. Sanjay Debnath attended the program as the guest from PMShree Girls' H. S.School. Sabroom. The event was presided over by Dr. Anupam Guha, Principal, MMD College. Professors, students, and other attendees were also present in the programme.
The theme of the day was "Medicinal and Fragrant Plants: Health, Heritage, and Livelihood Conservation." The main focus was to raise awareness about the vital role of plants in human health, cultural heritage, and local livelihoods, as well as the threats faced by plants and animals due to habitat destruction, excessive deforestation, and ongoing climate change. During the discussions, speakers emphasized that the loss of biodiversity and the destruction of habitats threaten wildlife and plant species.
Dr. Anupam Guha highlighted the remarkable progress of current technology and stressed the importance of using accurate information for sustainable development. He urged the proper use of technology in conservation efforts, and called upon everyone to be mindful and caring.
He also mentioned that the aim of celebrating this day at the college was to inspire the youth towards scientific thinking and awareness. He encouraged all students to actively participate in resolving the biodiversity crisis. The event included welcoming and concluding remarks by Professor Rahul Saha and Ranjit Debnath. The entire programme was conducted efficiently by guest faculty Rimi Chakraborty.
