In a proactive move to maintain stability in the supply and pricing of essential commodities, State Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury chaired an important meeting today morning at the State Secretariat. The meeting was attended by senior officials of the department and several petrol pump owners and businessmen.
The discussion focused on ensuring uninterrupted availability of petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders, other petroleum products, and daily essential commodities across the state. The Minister emphasized that prices of essential goods must remain within normal limits under all circumstances and that no artificial crisis should be allowed to develop in the market.
Following the meeting, the Minister shared details on his social media platform, stating that the government is taking advance preparedness measures to prevent any artificial shortage of petrol, diesel, or essential food items. He underlined that black marketing and price manipulation would not be tolerated under any condition.
According to the Minister, necessary instructions and guidance were issued to the concerned officials and stakeholders to strictly prevent hoarding, black marketing, or any form of illegal price escalation involving fuel and essential commodities.
However, in his social media post, the Minister did not specifically mention whether the state currently has adequate stock of petrol, diesel, LPG cylinders, and other essential goods.
The meeting is being seen as a precautionary administrative step aimed at protecting consumer interests and ensuring smooth market functioning across the state.
