A shocking incident of armed violence allegedly linked to drug trafficking unfolded in Charilam market, raising serious concerns about law and order in the area. A group of youths reportedly arrived from Bishalgarh in two vehicles and launched a brazen attack in the middle of the busy marketplace.

According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants, armed with weapons, targeted the driver of another vehicle in the market area. The driver was allegedly beaten mercilessly before the attackers snatched a consignment of suspected narcotic substances and fled the scene.

Reports suggest that one of the accused has been identified as Saptam Pal, who is said to be the son of a former police officer. However, official confirmation from authorities is still awaited regarding the identities and backgrounds of those involved.

Local residents have strongly criticized the police response to the incident. Witnesses claim that despite the violent nature of the attack in a crowded marketplace, no police personnel were try to stop it although present at the time of the assault.

Police later took that individual into their vehicle and left the scene. The circumstances surrounding this action remain unclear.

One eyewitness described the incident as an internal conflict between two rival drug trafficking groups. According to this version, the clash was related to disputes over narcotics distribution, which escalated into public violence.

The dramatic episode has triggered public outrage, with some residents expressing fears that the situation in Tripura is deteriorating, comparing it to a film-like lawless scenario. Citizens are demanding a transparent investigation and strict action against those involved, irrespective of political or personal connections.
