Rs.1,641 Crore Worth Drugs Seized in a Year: CM Says, anti-drug campaign continue with greater determination

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday announced that narcotic substances worth approximately Rs.1,641 crore were seized in Tripura over the past year, a staggering figure nearly equal to half of the state’s annual budget.
The Chief Minister made the statement while addressing the gathering at the Police Week 2026 parade held at AD Nagar’s Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium. According to the data presented by him, the quantity of drugs seized and destroyed in the state has doubled compared to previous years. However, he admitted that despite intensified enforcement, incidents of drug trafficking have not declined proportionately.
He reaffirmed that the anti-drug campaign would continue with greater determination, stressing that the government and Tripura Police remain committed to eliminating the menace of narcotics from the state.
During his address, the Chief Minister stated that Tripura Police has been working with distinction in crime control, maintaining law and order, conducting anti-drug operations, preventing road accidents, and handling various other responsibilities with dedication.
He expressed strong confidence that Tripura Police would continue to uphold this tradition of excellence with sincerity, honesty, professionalism, and enhanced efficiency in the days ahead.
The Chief Minister also observed that the overall law and order situation in Tripura has improved significantly compared to previous years. He stated that crimes, including border-related offences and other criminal activities, have reduced, and provided detailed statistics in support of his claims.
On the occasion of Tripura Police Week 2026, the Chief Minister paid homage to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty at different times. After inspecting the parade at the well-organized ceremony, he addressed the gathering and congratulated all ranks of the police force for their commendable service.
As part of the celebrations, 114 new motorcycles and 22 vehicles were distributed to various police stations to strengthen mobility and operational efficiency across the state.
Additionally, 81 police officers and personnel from different ranks were honoured for their outstanding performance during the special ceremony.
Blood Donation Camp Held
The Chief Minister also attended a blood donation camp organized at the venue on the occasion of Police Week. He encouraged the donors and extended heartfelt appreciation for their humanitarian initiative, praising their spirit of service to society.
The event reflected the government’s continued emphasis on modernizing policing infrastructure, strengthening law enforcement, and maintaining public trust while intensifying the fight against drugs and crime in Tripura.
