Tripura Legislative Assembly to Host Seminar on Responsibility and Accountability of Public Representatives on February 27

The Tripura Legislative Assembly will organize a significant Seminar cum Workshop on the theme “Responsibility and Accountability of Public Representatives to all Sections of People” on February 27, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Pragna Bhavan, Gurkhabasti, Agartala.
The programme is being held in accordance with the guidelines of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and aims to strengthen inclusive governance, democratic values, and institutional accountability in public life.
The event will be inaugurated by His Excellency Shri Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura. The Chief Guest on the occasion will be Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha,
Chief Minister of Tripura. Shri Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India, will attend as Special Guest.
The keynote address will be delivered by Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, who is expected to elaborate on parliamentary ethics, legislative responsibilities, and the role of elected representatives in ensuring transparency and accountability.
Several distinguished dignitaries will grace the programme as Honourable Guests, including Shri Ratan Lal Nath, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Tripura; Shri Biplab Kumar Deb, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha); Smt. Kriti Devi Debbarman, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha); Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha); Shri Jitendra Chaudhury, Leader of Opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly; and Smt. Kalyani Saha Roy, Government Chief Whip, Government of Tripura.
The seminar will be presided over by Shri Ram Prasad Paul, Acting Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
According to the invitation issued by the Assembly Secretariat, participation and insights from stakeholders are considered vital for promoting inclusive governance and strengthening democratic accountability. The workshop is expected to bring together legislators, policymakers, experts, and civil society representatives for meaningful deliberations on enhancing public trust and improving service delivery mechanisms.
The initiative reflects the Tripura Legislative Assembly’s commitment to reinforcing democratic institutions and ensuring that public representatives remain responsive and accountable to all sections of society.
