The process of appointing 2,056 teachers under the Primary Education Department has entered a new phase, but the issuance of a fresh online application notice by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) has triggered confusion and concern among candidates who have already qualified in the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

Earlier, recruitment was to be conducted on the basis of examinations already held by the Teachers Recruitment Board, with selection to be made strictly according to the merit list. However, despite the merit list being under preparation, candidates are now being asked to apply online again for participation in the merit verification process, a move that has raised several questions among job aspirants.

According to official sources, the Education Department has formally requested the Teachers Recruitment Board to prepare the merit list of candidates who passed the latest TET-I and TET-II examinations. Following this request, the Board has initiated the process of merit list verification.

In a notification issued by the Board, it has been stated that TET-I and TET-II qualified candidates can apply online for merit verification from 4:00 PM on February 23 to 4:00 PM on February 26. Detailed instructions regarding the online application procedure have been made available on the official website of the Teachers Recruitment Board.

Under the Primary Education Department, a total of 2,056 vacant posts will be filled.

For Under Graduate Teachers, 1,036 posts will be filled. The category-wise distribution is as follows:

General Category: 534 posts, Scheduled Castes: 163 posts, Scheduled Tribes: 339 posts, Reserved for Persons with Disabilities: 43 posts, Reserved for Ex-Servicemen: 22 posts.

For Graduate Teachers, there are 1,020 vacant posts. The breakup is:

General Category: 507 posts, Scheduled Castes: 154 posts, Scheduled Tribes: 369 posts, Reserved for Persons with Disabilities: 42 posts, Reserved for Ex-Servicemen: 23 posts.

While the recruitment is based on examinations already conducted by the Teachers’ Recruitment Board, unemployed candidates have questioned why they are required to submit fresh online applications when the merit list is reportedly already with the Board.

Many TET-qualified candidates argue that since they have already cleared the examination and their details are available with the Board, the need for a new online application for merit verification appears unnecessary and creates additional anxiety.

With thousands of aspirants awaiting appointment under the Primary Education Department, the coming days will be crucial as the merit verification process begins and the final merit list moves towards publication.
