In a significant boost to Tripura’s indigenous agricultural heritage, Sublime Gourmet Private Limited is set to receive and flag off the first consignment of Kali Khasa rice sourced from the Kalajhari Hill Ranges of Amarpur under Gomati district. The ceremonial event will be held on February 23, 2026 (Monday) at 11:30 AM at the Amarpur RD Block Office.
The consignment has been milled from approximately 1.1 metric tons of heirloom paddy directly procured from farmers of the Kalajhari Hill Ranges area. The initiative marks a landmark moment for the promotion and commercialization of Tripura’s highly aromatic, organically grown Kali Khasa rice, which is known for its unique fragrance and traditional value.
According to Saurav Gupta, CEO of Sublime Gourmet Private Limited, Delhi, this may be the first instance where such a substantial quantity of Kali Khasa rice—milled from paddy sourced from a single geographical area—is being exported outside Tripura. He described the initiative as a milestone in bringing the state’s indigenous rice varieties to wider national and international markets.
This is not the company’s first successful export venture from Tripura. On January 12, 2026, Sublime Gourmet Private Limited exported 1.5 tons of the famed Scented Lemon of Baramura outside the state, demonstrating its commitment to promoting Tripura’s unique agricultural produce. Building on that success, the company has now turned its focus toward Kali Khasa rice, aiming to establish it as a premium heirloom product in India and abroad.
The February 23 ceremony will formally mark the receiving and flagging off of the milled rice consignment for export outside Tripura. The event is expected to draw the presence of local officials, farmers, and stakeholders associated with agriculture and rural development.
