Agartala–Dhaka–Kolkata International Bus Service Resumes, CM Dr Manik Saha Hails Indo-Bangla Ties as Inseparable

After a prolonged suspension, the much-anticipated Agartala–Dhaka–Kolkata international bus service resumed operations today, restoring a crucial road link between Northeast India and Bangladesh.
Expressing satisfaction over the revival of the cross-border service, Chief Minister Manik Saha described India and Bangladesh as nations bound by an inseparable relationship and coexistence, emphasizing that we cannot move forward without each other. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has today a Vital Cross-Border Lifeline Restored.
Notably, the bus service connecting Agartala with Dhaka and Kolkata had remained suspended for an extended period, causing inconvenience to passengers, traders, students, and families dependent on the route for travel and connectivity.
With its resumption, travelers from Tripura can once again access Kolkata via Dhaka through a shorter and more convenient international corridor. The service significantly reduces travel time compared to the longer domestic road route through Assam and North Bengal.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha underscored the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and economic ties between India and Bangladesh.
Speaking on the occasion, he stated that the revival of the bus service reflects the enduring partnership between the two neighbouring nations. “India and Bangladesh share an unbreakable bond of friendship and coexistence. We cannot function without mutual cooperation,” he remarked.
He further noted that improved connectivity strengthens people-to-people contact and enhances regional integration, particularly for border states like Tripura, which shares a long international boundary with Bangladesh.
For Tripura, the Agartala–Dhaka–Kolkata bus service is not just a transport facility but a strategic connectivity corridor.
