Hindi Emerges as World’s Third Most Spoken Language: Tripura CM Highlights Linguistic Unity at Regional Rajbhasha Conference

Dr Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, has stated that Hindi has today established India’s rich linguistic heritage by emerging as the third most spoken language in the world. He emphasized that the growing global prominence of Hindi reflects the strength and diversity of India’s cultural identity.
The Chief Minister credited the leadership of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for ushering in what he described as a renaissance of India’s linguistic and cultural identity. According to Dr. Saha, the country is witnessing renewed efforts to preserve and promote its languages under their guidance.
Dr. Saha reiterated that in this direction, the Tripura government remains firmly committed to the promotion, expansion, and preservation of Rajbhasha along with all regional languages. He underlined that linguistic heritage forms the true foundation of India’s ethos of Unity in Diversity.
The Chief Minister expressed pride in participating in the Joint Regional Rajbhasha Conference of the Eastern, Northern, and North-Eastern regions, held at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre in Hapania, Agartala today. The conference was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, whose presence was described as a moment of great honor for the state.
Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah remarked that Tripura has never witnessed disputes over language. He noted that Bengali, Kokborok, and Hindi have been functioning in parallel harmony in the state. The Union Home Minister also expressed support for adopting the Devanagari script for the Kokborok language, emphasizing the importance of standardization and wider acceptance.
The conference highlighted the Centre and the State’s shared commitment to strengthening linguistic harmony and promoting India’s diverse language traditions while preserving regional identities.
