The Central Secretariat Official Language Service Officers Association has warmly welcomed the today’s statement of Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, describing Northeast Tripura as a suitable land to accelerate the campaign for coexistence and co-development of the official language Hindi along with the languages of the Northeast and other Indian languages.
In an official response, the Association’s General Secretary and Deputy Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dinesh Kumar Singh, said that the initiative would significantly strengthen linguistic harmony across the country. He emphasized that if the Nagari script is developed for all languages and dialects of the Northeast, it would promote greater unity among Indian languages and open new directions for their literature.
Mr. Singh described the organization of regional and All-India conferences on the official language in Tripura as highly commendable. According to him, holding such conferences in different states fosters a confluence of India’s social and cultural values. When speakers of multiple languages gather in one place, it not only strengthens linguistic harmony but also reinforces national unity.
He further observed that the frequency of such events would contribute to India’s linguistic advancement by 2047, aligning with the broader vision of national development. Mr. Singh noted that these initiatives promote dialogue and mutual respect between Hindi and other Indian languages. He underlined that Hindi has evolved by incorporating words from various Indian languages and, therefore, regards all Indian languages as its companions rather than competitors.
Highlighting the role of modern technology, Mr. Singh stated that with the integration of Artificial Intelligence, the language discourse has entered a new era. Increased discussion about the interrelationships among Indian languages will help bring them closer together, something the general public strongly desires.
He also remarked that organizing the regional conference in Tripura has provided language enthusiasts with an opportunity to understand and appreciate the state’s cultural values, folk traditions, and social diversity. He described the initiative as a milestone in strengthening the spirit of unity in diversity across the country.
Expressing optimism, Mr. Singh said that under the guidance and efforts of the Union Home Minister, the implementation of primary education in the mother tongue is expected to gain further momentum in Tripura as well as throughout the nation.
