Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said promotion of Hindi alongside regional languages would strengthen communication and national integration, and noted that Agartala has been chosen to host a joint regional Rajbhasha conference.

Saha said Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the Northern, Eastern and North Eastern Regions Joint Regional Rajbhasha Sammelan at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre in Hapania on Thursday. Participants from eastern and northeastern states have arrived to attend the event, he said.

The chief minister said Hindi plays an important role in communication and is widely understood in Tripura. He added that while every community has its own language, Hindi serves as a link language across regions and shares roots with Sanskrit.

Saha also referred to his participation in an AI summit, where he interacted with foreign delegates, Union ministers and chief ministers. He said discussions were held on the expanding role of artificial intelligence and its future applications.

According to Saha, the use of AI is expected to increase across government departments in the coming years. He said provisions relating to AI were included in the recent budget and expressed the view that India would emerge as a global platform in the field of artificial intelligence.
