High political tension has been reported from Santi Nagar area under Takarjala assembly constituency following organised attack on a group of migrant labourers from Assam and the vandalisation of Tipra Motha office in Santi Nagar, allegedly by a group of BJP workers and supporters early in the afternoon today. Police sources said that a group of migrant labourers from Assam had been engaged in a construction work in the Santi Nagar area over the past few months in a peaceful situation . But early in the afternoon today an alleged group of BJP workers had swooped on the migrant labourers for unknown reasons and beaten them up . The attackers had allegedly looted Rs 30,500.00 from the labourers. This was followed by an attack on the local office of the Tipra Motha and its vandalisation including destruction of furnitures within and tearing away of Motha flags. There has been no arrest so far in connection with the incident.

This has however evoked a strong reaction from the local unit of Tipra Motha with the Takarjala MLA Biswajit Koloi accusing the BJP of launching planned and cold-blooded attacks on the labourers and Motha party office to create unrest in the run-up to the ADC polls. He warned the BJP against creating trouble and subverting peace in the area and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the attack and vandalisation of Tipra Motha office.
