The political atmosphere in Tripura is becoming increasingly tense as important decisions are expected in the coming days regarding the ADC elections, Village Council polls, new BJP state president and some other internal developments within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

Based on special sources, several major political signals are now emerging ahead of upcoming legal and political deadlines.

Sources from state secretariat said that Tripura Government Likely to Oppose Simultaneous ADC and Village Council Elections.

According to informed sources, the Tripura Government has decided that it is not in favour of holding Village Council elections simultaneously with the ADC general elections.

A formal affidavit on this matter is expected to be submitted to the Supreme Court of India by 26 February. In that affidavit, the state government may clearly state its stand against conducting both elections together.

At the same time, sources indicate that the government may offer a compromise proposal, promising that Village Council elections could be conducted within three to six months after the ADC elections.

This move is being seen as an attempt to balance administrative feasibility with political strategy.

Sources suggest that final political decisions may only be taken after the visit of Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, who is scheduled to visit Tripura on 20 February.

His visit is expected to play a crucial role in clarifying BJP’s electoral strategy for ADC polls and Alliance discussions with regional forces, Resolving ongoing internal party tensions.

Political observers believe that Delhi leadership may take key organizational decisions immediately after this visit.

Inside the Tripura unit of the BJP, factional politics is reportedly at its peak.

Sources claimed that Several internal groups are allegedly trying to weaken Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who is widely viewed as a simple and straightforward leader.

Concerns are growing within sections of Delhi BJP over whether the party can secure expected results if it contests the ADC elections alone.

There are also reports that some political forces, including leaders from Tipra Motha Party, are engaged in behind the scenes political manoeuvring aimed at reshaping power equations.

A major debate is underway regarding whether BJP should Contest all ADC seats independently, or Form an alliance with Tipra Motha.

According to sources:

Some leaders in Delhi favour an alliance to ensure stronger performance.

An initial seat-sharing proposal has allegedly been discussed with top Tipra Motha leadership.

However, most of the Tripura BJP leadership and the Chief Minister’s camp reportedly favour contesting all seats independently.

This has created uncertainty among ordinary BJP supporters, who are now waiting for a final decision from Delhi.

New BJP State President: Decision Delayed

Another major development concerns the appointment of a new BJP state president in Tripura.

Political insiders say:

A new face was expected soon, but ongoing factional conflict has delayed the decision.

Ramprasad Pal was reportedly leading the race for the post.

However, recent controversies surrounding his reported strained relationship with journalists have weakened his chances.

Chief Minister Manik Saha is not believed to support his candidature.

Meanwhile, sources say that the RSS prefers a loyal organizational figure for the post, adding another layer of complexity to the decision-making process.

Many early (original) BJP leaders are reportedly inactive or sidelined.

Leadership influence is increasingly being exercised by leaders who joined from other parties, including former Congress members.

This shift has added to internal unease and may influence upcoming structural decisions by the central leadership.

According to political sources from Delhi, the central leadership in Delhi may soon take a tough and unexpected decision to stabilize the situation and prepare for the coming electoral phase in Tripura.

Political analysts believe the coming weeks, especially after Amit Shah’s visit, could significantly redefine both government strategy and party leadership in the state.
