The corruption-accused Md Yunus who had brought Bangladesh to the brink of an economic and socio-political disaster during the one and half illegitimate rule as the head of an unconstitutional interim government delivered a parting kick to his perceived bête noire India before his exit from power. While delivering his farewell speech to the country on television and other countrywide electronic media outlets, Yunus yet again referred to India’s northeast comprising seven states of the region, as if they were parts of Bangladesh, and flagged the importance of the region in Bangladesh having close economic link with Nepal , Bhutan etc offering Bangladesh’s sea-outlet through Chittagong port. This was deliberately highlighted to spook India which never entertained his usurpation of power in August 2024 and illegitimate misrule of the country.

Yunus who has always been an extremely devious character all along his career did the same in talks with China in March 2025 as also in a contrived map handed over to his foster fathers in Pakistan. The government of India was sagacious enough to ignore such rant on the part of Yunus , realizing well enough this his days in immorally grabbed power would be short-lived but it still rankled Delhi. On that occasion India’s external affairs ministry had issued a token warning only advising restraint on the part of Bangladesh . But smarting from the indifference of New Delhi to his illegitimate regime as well as to himself , Yunus continued to nurse a venomous grievance against the government of India which is now giving lot of importance to the newly elected BNP government of Bangladesh.

Sources from Bangladesh said that during his one and half year rule Yunus had strengthened his safety valve against charges of gross corruption like embezzlement of at least Taka 600 crores from Bangladesh Gramin Bank and a much larger amount from the foreign donations received from advanced European countries in the form of gran-in-aid by the Gramin Bank. He has got all the pending corruption cases against him dropped by the courts by exercising his influence as chief advisor of the illegitimate interim government that has just exited power in the wake of BNP victory in the February 12 election.
