A serious digital connectivity crisis has emerged in Rupaichari and Chatakchari village under the Rupai Chari Block of Sabroom subdivision, where a large section of residents continues to suffer due to extremely weak mobile internet services. According to local complaints, internet connectivity in the area has remained in an almost dead condition for a prolonged period, severely affecting daily life and communication.
Residents say that despite the rapid growth of digital infrastructure across the state, the people of Rupaichari and Chatakchhari remain cut off from basic internet facilities that are now considered essential for modern living. In an era where internet access functions as a lifeline, villagers are facing multiple hardships in completing everyday tasks.
The absence of stable internet connectivity has disrupted several essential services for the local population. Digital payment platforms such as Google Pay have become unreliable, creating problems in financial transactions. Official communication, online work updates, and access to government information are also being hampered due to poor network strength.
Social communication platforms including WhatsApp and Messenger, which many families use to stay connected with relatives across the state, country, and abroad, are often inaccessible or slow. Residents also express frustration that they are unable to access entertainment and live updates, including major sporting events like the T20 World Cup cricket matches.
Locals describe the situation as deeply frustrating, especially as nearby regions enjoy comparatively better network services. Many believe that the ongoing digital deprivation is affecting students, working professionals, small businesses, and elderly citizens alike, widening the gap between connected and disconnected communities.
People from the area are now appealing to authorities, telecom providers, and socially responsible citizens for urgent intervention. They hope that improved infrastructure, stronger signal coverage, or necessary technical upgrades can restore internet services comparable to other parts of Tripura.
