Chief Minister Reviews Agartala Smart City Projects, Calls for Faster Completion and Maintained Quality

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired a high-level review meeting on the progress of various Smart City projects in Agartala, stressing the need for timely completion and better coordination among departments to ensure improved urban services for citizens.
The review meeting was held at the conference hall of the Tripura Institute of Transformation (TIT), where senior officials associated with the Smart City mission participated. During the discussion, the Chief Minister emphasized that developmental works must be implemented in a way that minimizes inconvenience to the public while ensuring long-term urban benefits.
The Chief Minister closely reviewed ongoing projects related to road development, drainage systems, water supply, smart lighting, and other urban infrastructure under the Smart City initiative. He directed concerned departments to maintain quality standards and complete the works within stipulated deadlines.
Officials were instructed to prioritize projects that directly impact the daily lives of residents, particularly those aimed at improving civic amenities and traffic management in key areas of Agartala.
During the meeting, Dr. Saha reportedly expressed concern over delays in certain projects and urged officials to remove administrative bottlenecks. He said that proper planning and close monitoring are essential so that public resources are used efficiently and the city’s modernization process moves forward without interruption.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of coordination among agencies involved in implementing Smart City schemes to avoid duplication and ensure smooth execution.
According to discussions in the review session, special attention was given to ensuring that ongoing construction activities do not create unnecessary hardship for residents. Authorities were advised to adopt better traffic arrangements and safety measures around work zones.
Officials also briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of major Smart City components and future plans designed to transform Agartala into a modern, technology-driven and sustainable urban center.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to urban development and modernization through the Smart City mission, stating that successful implementation of these projects will enhance the quality of life, strengthen civic infrastructure, and support long-term economic growth in the capital city.
