Tripura to Host Prestigious Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference for the First Time at the end of April

Agartala is all set to script a new chapter in the parliamentary history of Tripura. In a landmark development, the state capital will host the 23rd Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region (Zone-3) along with NERIPSTR at the end of April this year.

This will be the first time that such a high-profile parliamentary conference is being organized in Tripura, marking a major achievement for the state in the national democratic and legislative arena.

The decision to hold the conference in Agartala was finalized at an important meeting of the CPA India Region held in Tamulpur, Bodoland, Assam. Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Ramprasad Paul, represented the state at the meeting.

Speaking after the announcement, Deputy Speaker Paul described the event as a historic milestone for Tripura. He stated that the conference would play a significant role in strengthening parliamentary democracy and enhancing coordination among the northeastern states. According to him, the gathering will provide an important platform for exchange of ideas and experiences among legislative leaders from across the country.

The mega event in Agartala is expected to witness the presence of some of the most prominent figures in India’s parliamentary system. The guest list includes Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, Lok Sabha Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh, along with Speakers and Deputy Speakers from all Indian states.

In a social media message, Ramprasad Paul expressed pride over the opportunity, stating that leaders associated with parliamentary democratic institutions would be arriving in the holy land of Mata Tripura Sundari to participate in the conference. He termed it a moment of immense honor and prestige for the people of Tripura.

With preparations expected to begin soon, the conference is anticipated to bring national attention to Tripura and further strengthen its position in India’s democratic framework.
