There is no respite from daily accidental deaths in one part of the state or the other . In a tragic road mishap an age woman Giribala Debnath (52) died on the spot this morning after being crushed by a speeding Tipper vehicle on the national highway in front of the PGT office in Santir Bazar subdivisional town. Sources from Santir Bazar said that around 9-00 this morning Giribala Debnatha , a resident of K.C.Para area near the town had been trying to cross the highway after reaching there on foot from her home in connection with an unknown work.
At that time a Tipper vehicle (No- TRO3G1509) reached the spot at high speed and pushed hard and then ran over Giribala’s body. As he lay writhing in agony on the road in a pool of blood , the people rushed in from all sides and then shifted her to Santir Bazar hospital where the doctor on duty declared Giribala ‘brought dead’. The killer vehicle had however managed to flee the spot.
Angered by the death of the lady the local people had given the vehicle a hot chase but could not catch up with it. The sub-inspector of Santir Bazar police station Samir Biswas reached the spot and took note of what actually had happened and registered a case. He assured the agitated local people that appropriate action would be taken. The local people however launched a protest programme against the non-existent traffic control on the national highway but were assured by the administration that traffic control would be tightened in Santir Bazar along the national highway.
