Tripura Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee has finally taken up the issue of the poor condition of several national highways in the state on the floor of Parliament, drawing attention to the growing public inconvenience caused by damaged road infrastructure.

Speaking in Parliament, MP Bhattacharjee clearly stated that out of the eight national highways in Tripura, construction and upgradation work on six highways are almost complete. However, he pointed out that despite this progress, a number of crucial stretches remain in a highly deteriorated condition, severely affecting normal movement of people and vehicles.

He specifically highlighted problematic areas such as Manik Bhandar in Kamalpur, the stretch from Mungiakami to Kumarghat, parts of Kailashahar and several other locations where the condition of the national highways has turned extremely poor. According to the MP, commuters are facing daily hardships due to broken roads, potholes, and lack of proper maintenance, leading to traffic disruptions and safety concerns.

Emphasizing the urgency of the matter, Rajib Bhattacharjee demanded increased budget allocation for the immediate repair and renovation of these damaged road sections. He urged the central NHAI authorities to take swift action so that necessary restoration work can be carried out at the earliest and normal transportation can be restored.

The intervention by the Tripura MP has brought renewed focus on the long-pending infrastructure issues in the state. Local residents and regular commuters have welcomed the move, expressing hope that the parliamentary attention will lead to faster improvement of the neglected national highway stretches in Tripura.

With road connectivity being a lifeline for the state’s economic and social activities, the demand for urgent repair and proper maintenance of national highways has now gained significant momentum at the national level.
