Tripura Hosts State-Level Digital India & IndiaAI Awareness Workshop to Prepare Youth for AI-Driven Future

A state-level Awareness Workshop on Digital India Initiatives and the India–AI Impact Summit 2026 was inaugurated yesterday at Pragya Bhavan, Agartala, marking a significant step towards strengthening Tripura’s digital and artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The workshop was inaugurated by JK Sinha, Chief Secretary of Tripura, in the presence of Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, and Suprakash Jamatia, Director (In-Charge), IT. Senior officials from the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT) were also present.
The programme was organised by the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Nearly 350 participants, including students, faculty members, IT nodal officers, startups, and professionals from premier institutions such as NIT Agartala, National Law University Tripura, IIIT and NFSU, actively took part in the day-long workshop.
In his inaugural address, Chief Secretary JK Sinha underlined the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in governance, education, and employment. He stated that IndiaAI initiatives are crucial for preparing Tripura’s youth for an AI-driven future while ensuring inclusive and balanced development across the state. He encouraged academic institutions and startups to align with national digital missions and leverage emerging technologies for innovation and public service delivery.
The workshop featured a series of expert sessions by eminent speakers, including Suman Deb, Associate Dean (Academia), NIT Agartala, who spoke on the academic and research opportunities in AI; Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar, National Law University Tripura, who highlighted the legal and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence; and Tanmoy Bhowmik, Vice President and Head of Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering at Paytm, who shared industry perspectives on AI adoption and real-world applications.
The sessions focused on Digital India initiatives, the vision of INDIAai, and the roadmap towards the India–AI Impact Summit 2026, providing participants with insights into policy frameworks, technological trends, and skill development opportunities.
The enthusiastic participation from academia, IT professionals, and startups reflected Tripura’s growing momentum in digital transformation and AI adoption. The workshop concluded with a renewed commitment from stakeholders to collaborate in building a robust digital ecosystem aligned with the national vision of Digital India and an AI-enabled future.
