The CPI (M) through its powerful tribal front organisation the Gana Mukti Parishad (GMP) is determined to fight the upcoming ADC election , identifying BJP as the main political enemy and the Tipra Motha as the secondary. “The BJP is a fascist party which has taken away even the limited autonomy the ADC enjoyed during our time and Tipra Motha , being a partner in government , is playing second fiddle to BJP’s devious conspiracy” said the general secretary of GMP Radha Charan Debbarma. He said that financially the ADC is being destroyed by denial of funds and by corruption of those running the ADC at present. “Corruption is rampant, ADC’s land is being either leased out or forcibly captured by elected members of ADC in lieu of money and being given away to private parties . Radha Charan asserted that whatever the left front had done during its tenure in power in ADC is now being destroyed . “We have adopted a ten point charter of demands and we will launch an agitation for this; the people living in ADC have realised the politics of deception of BJP and Tipra Motha and are coming out in protest ; the left front will perform remarkably well in the upcoming election” said Radha Charan. The president of GMP Naresh Jamatya who also attended the press conference accused the Tipra Motha of working in tandem with the surrendered militant elements.

The GMP leadership present in the conference blamed the state government for failure to provide funds to ADC and also for monitoring how the ADC is functioning . “No senior minister or official visits the ADC headquarter and takes stock of the situation there ; had they been sincere they would have gone to the ADC headquarter and seen the shape of things there which is deplorable to say the least” said Naresh.

Apart from this , the two day 23rd state conference of GMP concluded yesterday in Agartala Town Hall through the formation of new committees. While Naresh Jamatya was made the president of the new committee , Radha Charan Debbarma and Pranab Debbarma were selected as general secretaries . A 25-member executive council was selected with induction of six new members and a new state committee was constituted with 139 members including two invitees.
