BD : custodial killing of Hindu man, another Hindu girl’s hanging dead body found in mysterious circumstances

The cheapest and most easily dispensable thing in lawless Bangladesh now is Hindu lives and properties . As the February 12 election to the country’s National Assembly nears, the hounding of Hindus and other minorities seem to be gaining in momentum. According to latest reports from the Bangladeshi hell-scape a married Hindu youth Badhan Taran (27) had been murdered in the Narsingdi district jail custody and his mortal remains were brought to the district jail to be declared by the on-duty doctor as ‘brought dead’.

Sources from Bangladesh said that Badhan Taran , son of Shankar Taran (58) of Pashchim Kandapara area of Narsingdi town, a little distance away from Dhaka, had been arrested by police on a cooked up charge and had been ordered by the ‘Kangaroo’ court to be in jail custody. He had been an employee of a private organisation . Yesterday in the morning he was brought dead to the Narsingdi district hospital and was declared so by the doctor on duty who also called his family on mobile phone . His wife Anti Taran (26) rushed to the hospital and saw multiple injury marks on her dead husband’s dead body and broke down wailing. She later alleged that her husband Badhan Taran had been murdered in custody by physical torture . “I demand justice as I had seen my husband in fine condition two days ago when I had met him in jail; his advocate had said that he would obtain bail in the next hearing in court ; the government must investigate the matter and punish the guilty” said Anti Taran. However, the acting jail superintendent Humayun Kabir denied the allegation and described the death of Badhan Taran as normal . “This will be proved once the post-mortem report comes out “ he said , in a clear indication that the post-mortem report will be manipulated.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident a Hindu girl student of Veterinary Doctor of Medicine (VDM) named Upama Datta (26) was found hanging in mysterious circumstances in her Hotel Room no-24 in the veterinary science university of Chittagong on Thursday evening. A resident of Magura district, Upama had always been a good and meritorious student and had secured admission to the veterinary science university by clearing a countrywide competitive exam . On Thursday afternoon her two Muslim room mates saw her hanging dead from the ceiling fan of the hostel room. Upama’s family has refused to accept this as suicide and demanded an inquiry.
