CM Reviews Action Taken Report on AIIMS MoU: Emergency Services, ICU Expansion and Digital Health Reforms Underway

Work is currently in progress across Tripura to strengthen emergency medical services, expand ICU facilities, operationalise operation theatres, add modern medical equipment under the PPP model, and improve the hospital supply chain system. In a major push towards patient-centric healthcare, the state is already using the ‘Mera Hospital’ mobile application, while coordination is underway

to adopt AIIMS’ ‘Santusht’ app for systematic patient feedback and further enhancement of service quality.

Against this backdrop, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha yesterday reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AIIMS, New Delhi and the Government of Tripura. The review meeting was held through video conference with senior officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department and AIIMS authorities.

The ATR was prepared following a detailed assessment of the MoU signed in October 2024 and subsequent discussions held on January 17, 2025. The agreement focuses on strengthening healthcare delivery and medical education in Tripura through structured collaboration with AIIMS.

As per the MoU, several administrative reforms, faculty development programmes, training initiatives, and skill upgradation measures are being implemented. The collaboration also includes steps towards establishing a Health University in Tripura to improve medical education, research, and institutional capacity.

The meeting was informed that initiatives such as introduction of IT-enabled systems, recruitment of additional manpower, development of new departments, and amendments to service rules are underway to ensure effective execution of the agreement. These measures aim to improve hospital services, medical education standards, and overall healthcare governance in the state.

The Health and Family Welfare Department reiterated that, in collaboration with AIIMS, New Delhi, the Tripura Government remains committed to the overall improvement of healthcare services and medical education infrastructure.

Besides the Chief Minister, the meeting was attended by Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, IAS, Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education Prof. (Dr.) HP Sharma, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya, Medical Superintendent of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital Dr. Bidhan Goswami and Principal of Agartala Government Medical College Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Majumdar.
