Major accident in Kumarghat area, four killed including autorickshaw driver

In a massive and heart-breaking road mishap in Sidongcherra area under Kumarghat police station three passengers of an autorickshaw as well as its driver were crushed to death by a twelve-wheeler truck besides injuring two other women passengers. The guilty driver of the truck however managed to flee the spot , leaving his vehicle on the road.

According to initial reports shared by the police personnel from Kumarghat police station , an autorichshaw numbered TR02C3991 had been moving towards Sidongcherra area with passengers from Kumarghat. As the autorickshaw neared Sidongcherra a massive twelve-wheeler truck numbered TR1AU1756 coming from the opposite direction pushed hard and practically ran over the autorickshaw which nearly cracked to pieces . As a result the driver of the autorickshaw Bhaskar Goswami (45), a resident of Uttar Pabiacherra, and passengers identified as Kanchan Chakma (55) of Machhli , Harishankar Deb (52) of Machhli and Garimili Chakma (49) died on the spot. Two other women passengers Jatrapati Chakma (42) of Machhli and Mayarani Debnath (55) were taken to Kailasahar hospital by local people. Later Mayarani Debnath was referred to Silchar medical college hospital because of her serious condition.

After being informed police personnel from Kumarghat reached the spot and seized the killer twelve-wheeler truck though the driver had fled the spot. The broken autorickshaw was also removed from the road by police and Traffic jawans. Sources said that a case of murder has been registered and the guilty driver will be arrested soon. The ill-fate autorickshaw had been bound for Pecharthal and Machhli area. The mishap and death of so many people have cast a shadow of grief and mourning in the entire Kumarghat police station area.
